Italian producer and multi-instrumentalist Alsogood (Francesco Lo Giudice) shares 1000 Smiles, his new full-length on Island Records, out April 24th on LP and digital.

Following the international reception of Elsewhere and collaborations with Ivan Conti and DJ Harrison, 1000 Smiles is Alsogood's most fully realised statement yet: a 26-minute record where hip-hop architecture meets the warmth and improvisation of contemporary jazz. The album is available in two vinyl editions — a standard pressing and a version featuring a traditional OBI strip.

The record began taking shape in Alsogood's personal studio in Milan, where the initial compositions emerged from what he describes as a need to "impose harmony upon chaos." From there, the project moved to a four-day residential session in the hills of Northern Italy — near Vicenza — where he recorded live drums, flute, and saxophone with his full band. The shift from electronic foundations to live instrumentation defines the record's texture: precise in its construction, open in its feel.

Two collaborations anchor the album. Datsunn, the Canadian producer and multi-instrumentalist who previously released through Alsogood's own Rivamare Records, contributes vocals to "Beautiful Things," bringing a layered, 70s Motown-influenced warmth through his harmonies and lyrics. Johnny Marsiglia, widely regarded as one of Italy's most respected MCs, appears on "2.30am" — a meeting rooted in both shared musical instincts and a close personal friendship.

"With 1000 Smiles, I wanted to explore the relationship between hip-hop and jazz; two genres that, at their core, are defined by an uncompromising sense of freedom," says Alsogood. "For me, this album is a reclamation of creative control, where the rhythmic weight of the beat meets the improvisational soul of contemporary jazz."
